Can Men Wear Heels?

In the last few years androgyny has been a major trend in designer fashion with designers like Jean-Paul Gaultier backing this trend using the fabulously beautiful Andrej Pejic in both his Women's and Men's catwalk shows.

Andrej Pejic is a big inspiration for me not only because he is an inspiration for all feminine boys, transgender people, transsexual and androgynous people but he is also taken seriously as a model within the fashion industry and the media. Another one of my favourite androgynous models is Stella Tennant who proves that a women can be both "handsome" and attractive.

However the main focus of this post is not androgyny but whether men can pull off wearing heels. This is something that has been bugging me for a while because I see a lot of stylish Korean and Japanese guys wearing cuban heels and wedge boots which has made me want to invest in some "women's" shoes. At parties I always try on my friends heels and run around a bit (as I have tiny girls feet I can fit in their shoes and trust me when I say I can walk in heels with no problem ; P) so why can't men wear "heels?" I am currently obsessing over Litas and I'm tempted to ask for some for my birthday but I am also worried that I'll get them and always be too scared to wear them and they will end up being a waste.

So after a little googleing I found these.

I don't know about you but I personally think that heels don't look too bad on these guys?

Emmie one of the most stylish people I know recently posted a video of these guys on twitter.

After seeing these guys I had come to a conclusion. Not only can men pull heels off. THEY CAN WEAR THEM BETTER THAN 95% OF WOMEN! I can honestly say that now I can't wait to buy me some heels and that I shall wear them with confidence and feel fabulous.

So now on my wish list are:

mmmmmm aren't they all beautiful <3

What are your thoughts on heels for men?

  2. Personally I love men in heels when worn properly. I work near a very fashionable mall and go there for lunch; everyday I see hoards of women completely unable to pull off heels they wear.
If somebody is wearing nice heels and can walk in them well I think it's hot regardless of gender :D

    1. I agree :) sometimes I look at those women with despair and wish I could help them out but it would probably just annoy them. Gender roles in society have been changing rapidly in the last 60 years and I can't wait to see how the future plans out for gender in society.

  5. Oh hell yes!! Have a pair like the bots with spikes, but open toe. Go great with black nail polish.

  6. I wear chunky boots and wedge sneakers around the town. I keep my platform peep toe high heels for special places and club nights. I enjoy the extra height and how my legs look longer but mostly I am fascinated by the way they affect my body posture and walking; I become so aware of my bum, being higher up and sticking out and visibly moving from side to side:) I am a bit embarassed by the exposure but very excited when thinking this is the way girls walk and that they 're proud of their bum. How do you guys feel when wearing heels?

  7. Yes, there are men who actually have the desire and actively buy and wear heels, even stilettos like myself. Incorporating this desire has given me a better understanding of what life is all about. From my early toddlerhood, the days have always had to spend time working around my first priority - my yearning to wear heels - while dealing with everything else. The male shoes society dictated I am suppose to wear were used because the people around me wouldn't let me have the heels I wanted. So I was forced to experience my desire in secret or undercover when the opportunities became available or as I made them happen. As time progressed, this natural desire grew into a raging obsession, because there were many periods that I had to go without and when I did get to wear a pair, it was a brief experience that hardly brought adequate satisfaction. The saying that "a person can never have too many heels", is the way I have come to think of them. Now I have accumulated a bit of a collection of heels, I'm still always looking for my next pair, whether present or imaginary. Until relatively recent, the many added benefits of wearing heels were not part of my considerations. Just my desire or taste to wear certain styles of heels was the motivator. I was already aware of the special feeling my feet and legs got while wearing high heels, that my feet appeared shortened, my body height raised a bit, I had more colors to choose from, and I could choose to wear pumps with or without the buckled straps. Then I learned my body proportions and profile looked better in higher heels. This and seeing other relatively overweight people in heels prompted me to do more to maintain a trim and healthy body weight. Even though society has promoted that high heels were only women's footwear, my natural desire couldn't accept this social ruling. With the historical facts of men also having the desire to wear heels, coupled with my experience, I knew this attitude is a man-made contortion of misunderstandings or incorrect assumptions of the male mind. Men and women can have desires to wear the same attire, especially high heels. As individuals, we all have our unique perspectives and tastes. Just as we can't know the minds of others, they don't have any better way to know ours. So why should they be given the authorization to tell me what I want to wear when they don't even know me?

  8. An fascinating discussion is value comment. I think that it is best to write extra on this matter, it won’t be a taboo topic however generally people are not enough to talk on such topics. To the next. Cheers
