HALLOWEEN

Happy Halloween!!! Unfortunately I am not doing much for Halloween this year except having a quiet grumpy night in with my mum, but I couldn't resist dressing up at the last minute. I have been trying hard to think of an easy but fun Halloween costume to do and this morning I decided on an Undead Kpop StarI would have liked a few practice runs and I think the outfit could have been better but here are the photos.

As you can see my Jeffrey Campbell shadow studs arrived this week. They are actually the easiest heels to walk in. I got them because of Jo Kwon, who wore them for his song Animal. Jo Kwon was also the inspiration for my Halloween outfit.

I bought the shadow studs from Nasty Gal. I was a little disappointed with how long they took to come but they were worth the wait. The only issue I have with them is that they hurt your ankle because the leather rubs on your skin. Apart from that they are incredibly comfortable to walk in and jump in.

I hope you are all dressing up and have exciting plans for tonight! Tobi x

Skyfall Review/Yesterday

Yesterday was a very eventful day, I went out to lunch with the family and saw a preview of the new Bond film "Skyfall". I promise there will be no spoilers in this post and I will talk about the film more towards the end but YOU HAVE GOT TO GO SEE IT, one of the best films I have ever seen and an exceptional  example of British cinema.

Yesterday started with a little walk on the beach before we  went to a fish restaurant right on the sea front.

It was the best seafood I have ever eaten in England. My starter was Salt and Pepper Squid with chilli. Followed by Beer battered Fish and Chips with a homemade tartare sauce and mushy peas. For dessert, I felt too guilty to order the Brownie I wanted so I just went for a very healthy hot chocolate with lots of whipped cream.

Fish and Chips was my biggest English food craving when I was in Finland. It was certainly worth the wait!

After lunch we rushed back home so my Auntie and I could get ready for the Bond preview. The only thing harder than getting ready for a night out is getting ready for a night out in a rush! The dress code said "Dress to Kill" and there were a lot of men in Dinner Jackets, luckily we weren't too out of place though, as most of the ladies were dressed more casually.

Please excuse how goofy we look in these photos, my little cousins were taking the photos and we are quite awkward people. Our whole family is not very photogenic. The preview was in an old Cinema in Bognor Regis, it was an original picture house from the "olden days" with a very quaint, cosy atmosphere.

Now on to Skyfall! It's hard to talk about it without mentioning any spoilers but I will try for you all. In my opinion it is without a doubt the best Bond so far and as this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Bond films it had to be. Skyfall has revived a lot of the original Bond cliché's earning a smile from every Bond fan in the audience yet with it's intense emotional, and far more "personal" than your average Bond, storyline it still had the audience hooked from the moment it started with it's very fast paced action filled intro to it's emotional and cathartic ending. This film and it's extraordinary title song will hopefully create an entire new generation of Bond fans.

There is a very strong "British" feel to Skyfall marking this eventful and truly remarkable year for England. The promotion and coverage of this film rivals that of the other big events in the British calender this year such as the Jubilee and with a bit of luck will keep us out of recession for a second quarter ;)

I implore you all to go and see this film! and without giving too much away, it marks the end of an era for the Bond films, and leaves you with a wickedly teasing glimpse of the new set up for the next films which look like they will be closer to the old Bond "formula" with M, Q and Miss Moneypenny behind her desk. Not one person in the audience touched their drink or their popcorn for the entire duration and there was a very mad rush to the toilet when the credits came up!

I can also reveal that Daniel Craig has signed up for another two films, which I am extremely excited about.

Going Down Down ... South

Hello everyone. Today I travelled down to the south coast to visit my Auntie because of tomorrows James Bond preview. The premier was last night but my Aunt and Uncle had problems with their tickets so they had to miss it. Tomorrows preview is a special charity event in an old Victorian cinema hosted by a Bond girl from the 90's with a special talk by one of the screen writers. Apparently there is going to be a special bar for the local sparking wines which are meant to rival the champagne region in France which I am very much looking forward to!

Tired, no makeup face!

The whole of England has been under fog the last few days. Although we have had quite warm weather, its meant to get freezing soon!

My cousin Phoebe and me (slightly over shopped, I had a few spot issues and went a bit over the top)

This is just a little post, I will blog about the preview in the next few days and on Sunday I am back  in London to visit my friend Fran and party so I shall blog then as well! I hope you are all working hard on your Halloween costumes, Ciao for now x Tobi x

JEFFREY CAMPBELL DAMSEL SPIKES

Hello everyone, just a quick post, I went into town today to have coffee with my old school friend Charly and accidently bought the Jeffrey Campbell Damsel Spikes! I ordered the Shadow Studs a couple of weeks ago hoping they would be here in time for the shoot with Lucinda (which has now been postponed twice because of model issues) unfortunately they haven't come in time and last week I saw the Damsel Spikes were in Office, so I decided today that I would try them on ... one thing led to another and the very nice salesman made me buy them!!!

The Damsel Spikes were the first pair of Jeffrey Campbell's I ever wanted and now finally they are mine.

I went out with a more casual look today which ended up going quite well with the Damsels.

Model Lunch+Breakfast as the shoot was meant to be tomorrow. Followed by salad for dinner ... although now it has been postponed again so I am sitting in the Kitchen cooking myself something high in calories. (while blogging of course)

And finally, THE SHOES!!!!

All the reviews on the internet talk about how Jeffrey Campbell shoes and easy to walk in and painless. However I found these really tough at first (although I am not used to heels quite this high, I am more used to heels than a lot of girls I know) but after purchasing some insoles and walking in them for about half an hour the pain had stopped and I was used to the height. So I think what all the fabulous people of the internet mean is that they are "manageable" so if anyone is considering buying these all I can say is Bite the bullet and werrrrk it.

In other news, I found my old Munsters DVDs just in time for Halloween so I have been having a good Munsters marathon during the last few days. On Wednesday I leave for the south of England ready for the special preview of the new Bond film on Thursday  I can't wait to see it and I am looking forward to relaxing on the south coast as well. (it's going to be cold!!!)

I hope you are all having a good October, Ciao for now. X x

Blogoween! Part 1

Hello everyone! Recently (mostly due to Bunny) I have been in a super Halloweeny mood and I thought I would try out a "Blogoween" series of posts based loosely on Bunny's Vlogoween youtube series. Today I thought I would try out a costume idea I had for a vampiric, ghoulish boy look. Although I toned it down a bit because I had to go into town with Clem (my sister) and her friend Elisha so it became less of a costume and more of a Halloweeny outfit.

Today's instagram!
1) Me camwhoring
2) The three of us waiting for the bus
3) The market square in Peterborough

Here is my complete outfit look. Black wedge heel boots, fringed top and a scarf I bought in Brick Lane on Thursday. I would like to try it with much heavier black eye makeup and some heavy nose and cheek contouring to give me more of a ghoul, undead look. This "earring" which I bought in H&M this summer was my favourite part of the look.

Continuing the Halloween theme I thought it was only fitting that we visited the Gothic style cathedral in Peterborough.

At the bus station I saw this advert I remember seeing a news article about. It's to promote equality and combat discrimination. I love how blunt it is, it could have been written by a Finn!

My "wearable" version of the outfit

Clem and Elisha ... in pain? in our back garden

In Crowland, the small village where my family live, there is a very old Abbey. Clem and I went to the Graveyard to take my Halloween photos as it seemed rather fitting for the "ghoulish" vibe. It's currently under renovation but I still think it's really beautiful.

The sun beginning to set
Autumn is my favourite time of year to be in England, when it's just cold enough that you have to wear a light coat and a scarf and you can collect the chestnuts for roasting on an open fire. When I was little my mum used to make a "witch face" with tinned spaghetti for hair, mini sausages making up a hat shape and a face made from other children's food. I think she is planning on reviving the tradition this year ... let's hope with some healthier, more tasty food!

I hope you all have exciting Halloween plans coming up and are busy working on your costumes. I have a couple of different ideas but I can't choose so I will try them all out over the next week or two.

P.S. I cannot wait to watch my favourite Halloween films again!

Brick Lane Primadonna

Hello everyone, I had the most amazing day yesterday. I met Lucinda, the designer for Fawn&Faith for the first time and we went down to London to hang out, go to Brick Lane and see Marina and the Diamonds at the hmv forum. By total fluke, Lucinda currently lives at the next train stop from Peterborough so we caught the train down together.

Lucinda being pretty, I have only just noticed the man sleeping in the mirror, whoops!

Lucinda bought some Sushi with her, rather jealous!

I recently bought a new Iphone and these are my instagram pictures from yesterday! Please follow me @tobmonster1

  3. Arriving at Kings Cross (where platform 9 3/4 is!)

From Kings Cross we went straight to Trafalgar Square for some photos.

For those of you who don't know, Brick Lane (pic above) is a street in Laandan which is full of Vintage shops, small boutiques with weird designers you have never heard of and lots of Indian restaurants. It is meant to be the place to find the best authentic Indian curry outside of India. It is also the centre of underground and urban fashion in London. You can't walk down the street without seeing a crazy moustache or a Boy London cap.

While Lucinda and I were walking down the street we were given a 10% off voucher for a new Vintage shop called Blitz Blitz so we thought we would go check it out. For anyone who is into vintage fashions, grunge, Indie style or just general denim and leather goodies it's worth checking out. They also took our photo for their blog. It was the first time someone has ever asked for my photo!

Our streetstyle pic

We also checked out a few other shops.

Lucinda also took me to her favourite shop on Brick Lane called Public Beware.

Lucinda made me try on this top which we both liked so much so I had to buy it! Luckily the brand is super affordable and it was in the sale. It's got a sort of halloweeny witch like feel about it. (PLEASE SOMEONE INVITE ME TO A HALLOWEEN PARTY)

After Brick Lane we went up to Kentish Town to see Marina. Unfortunately the Public Transport in London was being it's usual self and we got soaking wet and were a bit late. I have been a fan of Marina since before the release of her first album and have been desperate to see her for years! I was so happy I finally got the chance now it was also her dads birthday and so the entire audience sang happy birthday to him. Marina also said it was her favourite ever London gig <3

We had enough time for a quick pre show drink in the end. All I can say is, you can take the boy out of Helsinki but you can't take the Pear Cider out of my glass!

The new entrance to Kings Cross! It's like a space ship!

Here are two of my favourite Marina songs <3

I am modelling for Lucinda's new project next Thursday! So stay tuned for lots of exciting previews of her new project!
